La Mola Lighthouse, Formentera (What to See? Photos)

La Mola Lighthouse is a charming place on Formentera that is considered to be a magical place by the tourists. It is also described as such by the famous writer Jules Verne in some of his works.

What to Expect?

La Mola Lighthouse is one of the most iconic and impressive landmarks of Formentera. The lighthouse was built in 1861 and it is located on the easternmost point of the island, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the neighboring island of Ibiza.

Firstly, the journey to the lighthouse is a beautiful experience in itself. The road to La Mola Lighthouse is winding and surrounded by stunning scenery, with views of the sea, the cliffs, and the countryside. As you approach the lighthouse, you will notice the impressive structure perched on the cliffs, standing tall at 138 meters above sea level.

Once you arrive at the lighthouse, you will be greeted with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. From this vantage point, you can see the entire island of Formentera, as well as Ibiza in the distance. The view is particularly breathtaking at sunset, when the sky is painted with oranges, pinks, and purples.

Aside from the view, there are other things to see and do at La Mola Lighthouse. Visitors can take a tour of the lighthouse and learn about its history and its role in maritime navigation.

You can also visit the museum located inside the lighthouse, which showcases the tools and instruments used by lighthouse keepers in the past.
